The Gospel – Read Before You Die
December 21, 2011 in Blog by Abigail Abanilla
Ever wonder why life seems to be always the same? The cycle goes on and on, we live and eat then die. Let me tell you something. That’s because something happened that has closed our eyes to the truth. You and I know better, but we were blinded to what real life is. I’ll go through history and tell you the entire story.

God created the heavens and the earth. He made man (Adam) and woman (Eve) – everything was perfect. But, Eve got deceived by the devil and did what God told her not to do. Adam did the same thing and both of them disobeyed God. This is the first sin. Because of this, Adam and Eve were sent to live outside the garden of God, separated from God. Sin is the gap that separated man from God. But because of God’s love, He reached out to us and found Abraham, among the offspring of Adam, faithful. God blessed Abraham because of this and chose Jacob, Abraham’s grandson and made him a great nation. Jacob (who is now called Israel) was also faithful and followed God.
So God made known to Israel His ways and taught his offsprings His laws (including the sacrifice of blood for the redemption of sins, so they could be forgiven – to wash away the sin that caused gap between man and God). He did this through Moses. Moses led the people of Israel (descendants of Jacob/Israel) into doing God’s commandments. But the children of Israel were rebellious. They repeatedly strayed away from God’s laws and worshiped other gods (which thing God hates). God sent judges and prophets to teach the children of Israel to turn from their evil ways and follow Him. But Israel repeatedly disobeyed.
Because of this and because God loves the world so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus – perfect and without blemish – to be the ultimate sacrifice for all sins. Jesus came down to earth, became human but never sinned. As a lamb gets slaughtered for the forgiveness of sins, Jesus was crucrified and shed His blood to save all people, once and for all. He died so that man, by believing in Him and what He did on the Cross, gets saved from God’s wrath and judgment. And God raised Him back to life after 3 days (defeating death) and gave Him the authority over all the earth. This is why He is the Lord of lords and King of kings – because Jesus rules over all the earth. But not all Israel believed. Still they continued to walk in their own ways and didn’t believe that Jesus was the Christ (prophesied by the old prophets to them, the Messiah that saves mankind from sins). But there were some that got saved, and they are called “believers” because they believe that Jesus is the Christ. Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s laws. No longer do people have to live by the law, but by the grace of God through Jesus Christ.
But because still some of the people of Israel don’t believe and even persecute those who believe, the blood of Jesus is made available to the Gentiles (people who are not Abraham’s descendants). God made His salvation available to anyone who believes, whether a descendant of Abraham or not (the gentiles). So everyone who believes in Jesus is saved from the coming wrath of God.
God has scheduled a day that He judges the world. And that’s when Jesus comes back to put an end to all the world’s craziness. Those who are not forgiven of their sins (those who did not repent and believe in Jesus) will be thrown to hell. Only believers, the saved people, will live. That appointed day has not come yet, but the time is near.
This is why Jesus commanded those who believe to let everyone else know, so that more people will believe, and more will be saved.
This is the truth and reality of life that was robbed from us by the pleasures of this world, turning us away from the real thing. Everything we do, our jobs, relationships and everything in our lives, don’t matter if we don’t make the decision now. It’s either we believe and follow Jesus or get doomed (continue with life on a road that leads to destruction). It’s now or never, we only have this chance while we’re alive. I urge you, believe now and don’t suffer after life (but even if you’re alive without Jesus in you, your life will still be pointless). Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Christ, Lord and Savior – and be saved. Pass this on to everyone you know, so that they may also get informed and believe and be saved.
