This story is really funny, and fantastic. Well Jake and Will (Matt Damon and Heath Ledger) are two guys who are seeking wealth. Jake likes storytelling, and is always holding a book with him and a pen to write anything he can think of, he is also a bit weird when he talks or moves, he is childish. But Heath Ledger did a splendid job here. While Will is a good speaker and he is the one who speaks with anyone when they have a racket. And do you know their racket? It is making up stories, and they will be saviors or warriors that will help the people. One example here is that in the village a witch was staying and destructing people, so Will and Jake were there to help! They got company, two friends who are their helpers to act out, and show the people that they survived and killed the witch and they are victorious.
It is a funny, but a bit of a dark, scary, horror and thriller movie to watch. Okay the conflict of the movie is when they got into a village and they are asked to solve a mystery. Villagers are wondering why girls have been lost in the forest almost every night. This is now very serious. The two have been searching for someone who can guide them to the forest; it was Angelika (Lena Headey). So they searched together with Italian torturer Cavaldi (Peter Stormare). He talks funny, trust me!
They soon found out that there was a beautiful, yet dangerous 500-year-old Thuringian queen (Monica Bellucci) stealing young girls to restore her own beauty. She needs 12 young girls so that she can become beautiful again.
Long ago, King Childeric I came to the forest to build a city and he had a queen who experimented with black magic just to gain eternal life. The queen is very beautiful here, honestly. Then because of what the queen did, a plague swept through the land and she hid in her tower, while her husband and everyone below her perished. Her spell granted her immortal life, but the problem is, she is tremendously horrible. She looks dead. She can only see herself young and beautiful in the mirror. She needs to drink the blood of twelve young girls to regain her beauty, ten have already been reported missing. The queen is working an enchantment to regain her beauty with the aid of her werewolf huntsman and his magic axe, crow familiars, and various creatures in the forest. But this werewolf was later on revealed himself as Angelika’s father and was just hypnotized by the queen’s beauty.
Will and Jake continued their search, and actually Will has not been trusting Jake because of his imagination and just storytelling illusion. But this time, Will trusted Jake, together they helped each other. Jake climbed on the tower in the middle of the forest where the queen was staying, and on the roof, he saw the 12 tombs that are almost complete. Jake and Will understand now what really is the case of the mysterious reports of missing girls. And went back to the village, but unfortunately, the soldiers came and found out that Will and Jake were liars in the first place. Remember that they are just acting scary things to earn, so now the people won’t listen to them anymore. And they will be put to death. But the forest mystery is real. When Will and Jake were placed in the middle of the forest, the general’s plan is to burn the forest with the two and also Jake’s book. This means that the girls and the tower, and everything will be gone forever.
But anyway, the two managed to escape with the help of Angelika, and they went to the tower to complete the mission. And Cavaldi was also with them. They went back to the tower, but Angelika was caught by the werewolf as the 12th girl to complete the spell. They need to stop the queen and the werewolf, but when they get to the tower, they were under the power of the queen to fight each other. Will was hit with the knife held by Jake. And we really thought Will is going to die here. But anyway, Jake broke the mirror and this caused the queen to die.
But the sad thing, the case is still not resolved, the 12 girls are still dead, and Will also is dead. But the funny thing and the best part of all is when Cavaldi remembered the scene in a child’s story when a man kisses a girl to break the spell. Jake was alive, and kissed Angelika, since he liked Angelika so much. So then the spell was broken, but Will is still lying down. The funny thing is, Jake might need to kiss him? Haha, when Jake’s lips are almost on Will’s , Will woke up and said “not” and Angelika did it, and then everyone marvelled!
Everybody’s happy in the end which is what I really wanted. You will see almost everyone in the Grimm’s fairy tale characters will appear here like little red riding hood, snow white, sleeping beauty, hansel and Gretel! Hehe, absolutely funny movie for the entire family.
But be warned, there are some instances that you will feel scared, see dead bodies, and heads , blood and a lot of deadly and yucky things will show up. And a lot of thriller scenes as well since the movie is based on the Grimm’s, you know these guys, they are horror! But as long as the whole family are watching it won’t be that scary, just make sure kids who are scared won’t watch this instead.
