Pacquiao Encounters God
January 14, 2012 in Blog, Testimonies by Abigail Abanilla
I almost can’t believe I’m reading this. Truly nothing is impossible with God. It’s funny how less than 24 hours before we heard this news, someone was judging God through Pacman by saying something like “…look at Manny Pacquiao, he’s a no good person but he’s so rich and everything, look at those who do good and try to live right…” God just can’t be judged and His power just couldn’t be measured. That afternoon, we watched the news and when we heard that Pacman is already talking about his encounter with God, it was as if God was listening to the earlier conversation and He just gave His answer!
It’s almost unimaginable but for someone as rich, powerful, famous as Pacman… who would’ve thought he somehow needed God? Well, of course, everyone has this emptiness that only God can fill, but with all the luxuries and distractions around him, truly it was God’s voice that called him.
Here’s how the encounter went…
After Pacman’s fight with Marquez last November, he had a dream. He dreamt of him strolling through a forest. Then, there was light. And Pacman heard a voice saying “Son, why are you going away from me?” Pacman has since become a changed man. He learned and accepted Jesus Christ and has been reading God’s Word with his family. That’s a good start. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

I was filled with amazement. Most of the testimonies of faith that I’ve heard before usually indicate that God’s power came in at the point of their worst failure or mistakes, when everything was falling apart. But for Manny, although we have no idea what’s going on with his family life, he made the decision to follow God when he’s like this famous. Apparently, it wasn’t just Manny. It was God’s power working! God is God enough to bend the knees of even the most powerful people on earth.
Maybe…just maybe.. Pacman’s testimony will cause a new revolution for a better Philippines!
