I Will Sing Of Your Mercy

It would be good to have the Word of God, in any form (could be a sermon or a song or a reminder by a friend), just turned on 24/7. Like wherever you go, you get reminded of God’s truth. There are times you’d think it’s better to just live inside the church and not go out (church doesn’t include the parsonage). Just seclude yourself from the world. That way no one will ever hurt you, and you can never hurt anyone. But that’s just not the way it’s supposed to be. That never happens. If that was how it should’ve been, then there shouldn’t have been a place called Earth. We wouldn’t be living with people at all.

Apparently, the purpose of our being (talking about now) is 1. God and 2. People. These are the two greatest commandments, remember? It’s just a shame that we, people, just don’t get along all the time. Even if we are christians.

But whatever the problem is, big or small, there’s always a way out. And it’s inside us. It’s in me and it’s in you. You have the choice on how to deal with people. You have the choice on how to react to an unloving environment.

It’s the same with God. When we think of the (bad) feelings someone has caused us, we start to feel a distant relationship with God. God is just not pleased with a heart pre occupied with emotions and feelings against someone. He said, in everything give thanks. You don’t give thanks with a heavy heart. He said, rejoice! You don’t rejoice with anger in your heart.

How about this, whenever you feel bad, frustrated or disappointed in someone, remember God’s mercy and how He should feel bad, frustrated and disappointed in us. How many times have we failed Him? Yet for more than 2000 years (and forever), He remained (and will remain) faithful. Whenever these bad feelings get into hearts, let’s sing of His mercy that leads us through valleys of sorrow to rivers of joy. (Yes that was taken from “The Valley Song” by Jars of Clay).

God is good!
