Green Lantern

Green Lantern, starred by ‘The Proposal’ guy, Ryan Reynolds is based on a DC comic series. Here’s a synopsis of the movie story. The movie making quality is superb. The effects were great. I only watched it at home, on a VCD but the visuals are still stunning. The movie is light and comedic in form, perfect for a family movie showtime.
To give you a short description of the story: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), a test pilot, has been chosen to become the first human to be part of the green lantern corps, an inter gallactic police force that uses will power, as their main strength. A super villain has come to destroy the guardians of the universe and is feeding himself with all the fear in the universe. Hal, an ordinary man whose been through a tragic experience when he was a kid, fights off his own fear and defeats the supervillain.
That’s mainly how the entire story goes. It’s very predictable and more of a children’s movie, which it is (I suppose). Blake Lively plays Hal Jordan’s love interest and she did a pretty good role. Not so great, because her role doesn’t require heavy drama. At least her existence was felt. Peter Sarsgaard was evidently good. Although, he had to die before the final showdown between Hal and the supervillain, Parallex. The best thing about this movie, is how the morals are creatively illustrated. Hal had to have strong will power to defeat Parallex who gains strength whenever fear is present. Given that Hal’s dad died in front of him, the fear of losing his life like what happened to his dad, was Hal’s struggle. He finally was able to fight it off and, in the end, won the battle between good and evil.
The entire movie, is not really something everyone would be surprised with. A playboy hunk who meets superherodom with its slice of humor and action. It was a good watch and pretty much entertaining.
Movie Making Quality: 5/5
